Killah Threat started producing music when he was 16 years old. He produced on a Boss beat machine,Yamaha keyboard and a karaoke radio. Within a year he started using Fruity Loops to create instrumentals and wrote to every beat he could drum up. Back then Killah Threat would record the beat on a cassette tape with a dual tape deck. After the beat was recorded he would place the beat tape in tape deck 1 and a blank tape in tape deck 2 to have the beat tape play and the blank tape record the beat as he rapped on top. Then he would repeat the process to duplicate vocals. Now as a master at what he does, you can say he came from very humble beginnings.
The way Killah Threat would describe his music is as a vibe for hip hop heads that enjoy the storytelling aspect with a blend of rhyme schemes, wordplay, and metaphors with a mix of street logic to make it all glue together to remain relatable to the listener. His creative process is to first go off the influence of a sound or sample when he first creates. Once he finds the right sound to create the vibe he envisions, he builds and sees where his creativity can take him. Killah Threat tries not to overthink his process and just goes with the flow. That way he can express himself through his sound with the fullest transparency.
Killah Threat is from the city of Saint Louis, Missouri and comes from a family of 6. His parents were divorced by the time he was 7 and he joined a gang by the time he was 8. His father was his hero and role model but the streets were his teacher. Killah Threat used to write books at a young age to create stories that soon turned into him writing lyrics being influenced by hip hop culture. If he was not writing or gang banging with the other kids in his neighborhood he would play basketball. The older Killah Threat got the more he became more serious about music, he created his 1st underground album in the 9th grade along with selling tapes for 5 dollars each. By the time he was a sophomore he created a squad called C.O.A (Click Of Assassins) and they were all working on creating music. The group created their 1st album entitled Tha Hottest Summa Eva Vol.1 in 2003. Nevertheless the group disbanded but remained under the Thoroughbred lineage. Killah Threat continued to do whatever he could for the remaining members who were loyal through action to the brand. As an Owner and CEO of Thoroughbred Ent The Hood Declaration Vol 1 was released in 2010 which was the final group project. From there Killah Threat started to get back to creating solo albums to re-establish himself as a solo artist. During this time he has released 9 projects and produced countless others.
